A dreadful crisis
Some more babies were gunned down

There's a sickness that's infecting this society
An urge to kill that's grown with great propensity
A blinding rage a spreading murderous insanity
A spiteful hate that can't relate and wants to hurt humanity

It seems that nothing can be done
To end the killing

Is much more fulfilling

Today's mass shooting has begun

Long list of names keeps getting longer every day
The store at work the school at church we all will watch the bullets spray
Separation isolation proliferation tools of war
Add racist hate then contemplate why there ain't nowhere that's safe no more

Another round of thoughts and prayers to ease the pain
In a mental twist the victim's switched to rights and not the people slain
Same war of words well past absurd we race to lock the children down
Then close our eyes and hold our breath and hope today it's not our town
